Cancer Is Personal
This page exists because of my personal, and not always good experiences with my own cancer. I like millions of other people have cancer. As I have journeyed through the traditional medical cancer therapies I discovered that for the most part, traditional medicine doesn't do enough to answer the concerns of cancer patients. I believe most health care practitioners are dedicated to their patients and honestly want good outcomes. Unfortunately many are blinded by their interpretation of therapies that maybe they feel are beneficial but can't explore them with their patients because of fear from the established medical authorities.
I was at a cancer conference a few years ago and I had I guess, my "aha" moment. The "experts" sat elevated above the audience discussing their traditional therapies and spoke about their personal lives, why they became oncologists, or work for an organization dedicated to helping people with cancer. The information was as one might expect. When it came time for the audience to ask questions things changed. A middle-aged woman struggled to get to a microphone. She explained that she was receiving treatment and was tired, weak and was having difficulty speaking. She asked a question about sugar and cancer. The experts told her that diet had nothing to do with her getting cancer, it didn't effect her treatment and it has no effect on cancer at all. She was told to listen to her doctors and avoid anything she may read about cancer and sugar. My heart went out to her. I sat there knowing they were wrong but didn't say anything. A few minutes later an elderly gentleman slowly walked to the microphone. Frail and barely audible he began to speak of his cancer. After about 30 seconds he was interrupted and told he was not there to speak about his personal struggles and was dismissed for another question. What was ironic was that every speaker on the panel spoke at length about their personal reasons why they were there, and none of them had cancer. After leaving the event I struggled with what I had experienced. I have been practicing clinical nutrition for over 30 years and have time after time experienced tremendous outcomes with my clients with nutrition, lifestyle and environmental protocols. I was angry that the panel of experts dismissed out of hand every question that had to do with alternative therapies saying that there is no good evidence that anything other than what they were doing was effective and that other approaches could harm them. I decided from that day on I would dedicate a large portion of my practice to educating people on the benefits of an integrative approach to cancer as well as other illnesses. No longer would I sit in silence as human beings struggled to help themselves with life threatening diseases while "experts" hovered above them dispensing biased misinformation.
This page will be dedicated to those who have cancer and want to have a voice to speak. I will do
everything I can to bring current scientific, and researched material to those who want more than surgery, drugs, and radiation. There is a large body of evidence demonstrating that integrating other approaches into traditional therapies are extremely effective in preventing, treating, and stopping cancer from reoccurring.
